About what's a good time leave Las Vegas to travel to San Diego in March

What's a good time leave Las Vegas to travel to San Diego in March?
I asked this before but didn't clarify that it would be in March. My friend told me to wait until midnight to leave if I don't want to deal with horrible traffic. He's a truck driver so he's traveled that route alot but he's also pretty dramatic. So should I listen to him or leave earlier? We live in Oklahoma and the worst traffic we've driven in is in Houston Texas.

Answer 1 :
Never on a Sunday, Its a dead stop , both directions heading into Vegas and Out. But really any day or time other than on a Sunday.
Answer 2 :
About 4;30 in the after noon you should miss all the rush hour traffic in all the California cities between Vegas and San Diego, done it dozens of times. Of course leaving at midnight is ok to if you are not sleepy. Driving through LA is a kin to driving through Houston lol but you won't be doing that.

About what is the best way to travel from Las Vegas to Fresno California

What is the best way to travel from Las Vegas to Fresno California?
We are vacationing in the Fresno area in October and are flying into Vegas. Does anybody have any thoughts on the best way to travel between the two? All ideas are appreciated
Las Vegas - 7 Answers

Answer 1 :
vacation in Fresno? are you on a budget or something? just go by car. but its a hot boring drive
Answer 2 :
Interstate 15 south to Highway 58 transition in Barstow. Highway 58 to Highway 99 North. That's the general road route. If you're flying then it's LAS-FAT on several airlines.
Answer 3 :
best way to get cheap air tickets
Answer 4 :
the drive is about 6 hours. 15 south to 58 west in barstow then 99 north at bakersfield to fresno. not the most interesting drive but not bad if you have someone in the car with you. if time is not an issue the drive is a good choice. if you want to fly you might be able to score some good deals. freson is a regional airport so you probably won't find it on any of the big airlines. but regional carriers tend to be cheap when flying short distances.
Answer 5 :
Nobody "vacations" in Fresno! Are you flying into Vegas because you got a cheap flight? Just rent a car at the airport and drive--it's not really that far. Use a major car rental and just turn it in in fresno.
Answer 6 :
Allegiant Air (they have a web site) out of Fresno is an excellent airline, with very good prices to Vegas, non-stop. If you drive, it's interesting if you like the desert landscape. You also save money on a car rental in Vegas. I would not be in that city without a car, rental or my own. It's way too spread out, and it's extremely hot. Waiting for a bus or shuttle in the heat is horrible. If you are in Fresno, do visit the Underground Gardens. That is an amazing and fascinating place, unique in the world. It also has a web site. It's Fresno's redeeming feature, in my opinion.
Answer 7 :
Alligiant Air and United (United Express by Skywest), U.S. Airways (Express, and starting 09/02/07 mainline flights) all fly non-stop from Las Vegas to Fresno.

About when is the best time to travel to Las Vegas and save money

When is the best time to travel to Las Vegas and save money?
I'm planning a trip to Vegas and don't want to pay through the nose for airfare for two seats. I don't want to go in the summer (obivously), so, when would be the best time for me to travel?
Las Vegas - 11 Answers
People's Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
Answer 1 :
I'd go in the winter.
Answer 2 :
Go in february... like now! Although if you book flights now, it'll cost loads. So if you book a flight for feb or march next year you should do ok.
Answer 3 :
If you can have the same fun in the winter time as you would during summer, i don't see why shouldn't you try the winter.
Answer 4 :
The Red Eye flights (very late night or early morning arrival and departure) used to be a lot cheaper than the others. I once flew from Las Vegas to St Louis for about $70 - left Vegas after midnight, got to St Louis about 6:00 AM (time zone differences factored in, too)
Answer 5 :
You should come known before it gets hot and the rooms get full of people. The summer is not good. For air fare try South -west airlines, They are cheap.I lived In Las Vegas for 5 years. I will give you my E-mail Address. merger4@yahoo.com
Answer 6 :
The best time to visti LV for low room rates is after the NFR(National Finals Rodeo) up until the weekend before New Years. to check room rates http://www.lasvegasadvisor.com/referenceguide-hotels.cfm http://www.hotels.com http://www.travelworm.com The latest LV promo codes http://www.smartervegas.com/promotionaldiscountscodes.aspx ~Jack~
Answer 7 :
If you don't want to go during the summer, go during the two weeks before Christmas. That's also one of the cheapest times of year to go - probably because everyone's so wrapped up in holiday shopping, they don't have money to burn. If you go Sunday -Thursday, it will also be significantly cheaper than the weekends.
Answer 8 :
To save money book your hotel room with a hotel promotion. Check http://www.vegas-hotels-online.com - you will find many Las Vegas hotel promotions there.
Answer 9 :
Contrary to popular belief, you can find incredible deals to Las Vegas throughout the entire year. You just have to be flexible and patient. I found a $49 roundtrip airfare from Florida at SpiritAir.com. So all you have to do is take some time to do some research and some homework and you can make your way to Las Vegas for hardly nothing. I'm not wealthy by any means and I find myself finding these deals all the time, you just have to know where to go and what to avoid. Here are a few of the websites that I search when I'm planning a trip to Las Vegas: * Expedia (Stay away from package deals, I have yet to find a package deal from any site that is actually cheaper than booking a hotel and flight separately) Note: Don't be afraid to book your hotel in one site and flight in another, I do this all time to make my own "Las Vegas Pacakge Deal" ;0) * MyVegasSecret - This site has a pretty good Hotel Reviews section and allows you to seach several hundred "hotel and flight search engines" at the same time to try and get the lowest price. * TravelZoo - I haven't had the pleasure of using them yet, but I've found some very good deals there before, unfortunately after I've already booked my trip. * SpiritAir - I don't know where you live, but this airline has the famous $9 fares to all sorts of places. I haven't been able to catch one that low to Las Vegas, but as I've said before, I've used them to fly to Las Vegas from Florida roundtrip for less than $50. Well, I hope some of this information has helped. Have fun in Las Vegas and good luck! Note. Don't forget to bring your camera, you will be taking a lot of pictures I promise.
Answer 10 :
Week days are a lot cheaper than weekends. Check out the fares on southwest and on us airways. We sometimes fly one way on one airline and back on the other. The spring and fall are good. The place is packed Xmas and New Year's.
Answer 11 :
You just missed all the Christmass specials.

About what would be the cheapest way to travel to Las Vegas besides driving

What would be the cheapest way to travel to Las Vegas besides driving?
I'm going out for a fun getaway from Albuquerque NM to Las Vegas NV. I always drive when I go but don't feel like driving there this time, yet I know I can drive there for about $50-$60 bucks. Does anyone know any Amtrak promo codes for this area and month or airline discounts. I'm trying not to spend a lot of money (I'd rather spend it on fun in Vegas). Please no spam.

Answer 1 :
a grey hound bus.
Answer 2 :
Greyhound bus would be cheaper, and almost as quick for a trip that short. You can meet interesting folks on a bus sometimes............
Answer 3 :
I flew out of Albuquerque to Vegas in August. We bought our tickets well in advance through southwest airlines and it wasn't bad at all. Definately better than driving (which we had done twice before from Alb!)
Answer 4 :
Well, what I did was to enroll in a bunch of traveling agencies i.e. Orbitz, Priceline, Expedia. They will reward you wilth kewl discounts. I just got a $75 coupon...3 night stay with plane and shuttle to and from the casino (Tropicana) for $170 per person. You should search around and have fun!

About what are the cheapest dates for travel to Las Vegas

What are the cheapest dates for travel to Las Vegas?
My finace and I are planning on getting married in Vegas this year, however funds are limited. Can anyone tell me the cheapest dates to travel to Vegas with flight & hotel for 3 nights? We are planning on going over a weekend. Thanks!!
Las Vegas - 5 Answers
People's Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
Answer 1 :
Any days between Sun and Thurs are cheap as long as they don't land on Holidays. Weekends are always expensive. Every month is virtually equal in price.
Answer 2 :
A friend and I flew out to Vegas the Wednesday before Memorial Day and came back home that Saturday. We both flew to Vegas and stayed at the MGM Grand Hotel for $450 each. Great place to stay - very clean too. You just have to take your chance on different dates throughout the year. They do have their 'summer' time there when everyone is in Vegas. That is the time when hotel and flights will be atrocious! Pick a few dates, try expedia.com and go from there. Good luck and have fun!
Answer 3 :
During the week between january and april.Im sorry i couldnt narrow it down for you.
Answer 4 :
The highest priced months out in vegas are march, may, and september. The summer months, especially july and august are very inexpensive because many people think that it is too hot to go out to vegas. Remember, it is the desert, so day time temperatures are most likely gonna hit triple digits. If you can stand the temperature, you can get some great deals. Also, the time in december from the second week until the middle of january, except for new year's eve is relatively inexpensive as well.
Answer 5 :
The absolute best hotel rates of the year in Las Vegas are after the NFR(National Final Rodeo) up until just before New Years. For 2007 that would include December 9th until the 28th.This is the slowest time of the year in LV and they scamble to fill rooms.Just a couple of years ago I stayed at the Orleans for 10 nights during this time, my total cost including tax was $163.50 I am already holding 10 nights at the Gold Coast(12/16-12/26) at a total cost of $224. I stay at least 2 weeks at a time, by holding this time it allows me the flexibility to add marketing offers for comp nights either before or after the 16th/26th or chop off one end or the other of my reservation and use comp nights. I may choose to stay through New Years or I may choose to go earlier in the month depending on the offers I receive, and the airfare available. You should be able to find very good rates for the weekends of 12/14-16 & 12/21-23. The room rates may be slightly lower for the 21st but you might find the air is cheaper for the 14th. If you don't want to wait that long you might check into the first couple of weeks in June, the rates for those weekends seems to be pretty reasonable. The "generally" slower times of the year are from Memorial Day until Labor Day and from November first until the end of February. You could save a lot of money by going Sunday through Thursday. You will want to avoid special events and large conventions, they drive room rates through the roof. This is my favorite site to check LV room rates http://www.travelworm.com >usually the best rates It never hurts to check other sites, they may have a special. http://www.tripres.com http://www.i4vegas.com http://www.vegas.com http://www.utopia.worldventures.com For hotel reviews http://www.tripadvisor.com http://www.cheapovegas.com http://www.lasvegasadvisor.com >links to all LV hotels

About what's the best way, but inexpensively, to travel around Las Vegas and to the Grand Canyon for a week

What's the best way, but inexpensively, to travel around Las Vegas and to the Grand Canyon for a week?
My husband and I are traveling to Las Vegas and the Grand Canyon for a week. Anyone have great, but inexpensive ideas, to enjoy those two locations? Thanks so much!

Answer 1 :
Hopefully you are taking a day trip to GCanyon by bus tour, relaxing to see the scenery and then enjoy the canyon. While in Vegas you can walk the Strip, which is four miles long, but watch the summer heat. Pick a corner a day and you will have more than enough to see/do and not have to drive around. Corner - Mandalaly Bay, Luxor, Excalibur, Tropicana, MGM Grand, NYNY, Monte Carlo Corner - Caesars Palace, Bellagio, Paris, Ballys, Bills, Flamingo Corner - Wynn, Encore, Venetian, Palazzo, Mirage, Treasure Island & Fashion Show Mall
Answer 2 :
Vegas in general wipes me out, but renting a car & driving around the SW desert is an ideal thing to do (if it's not 100 degrees). Making a loop I-15N to Zion National Park, then south to the North Rim of the Grand Canyon is a great way to spend some time enjoying nature & the scenery. Springdale (just W of Zion) has some excellent restaurants & hotels. Hiking Zion I would recommend Angeles Landing, if you really wanna do it right. Grand Canyons North rim is not too far away either. This is much higher elevation (8000') than the South Rim, so you can find meadows, aspens, forests & hiking.
Answer 3 :
It really depends upon what your needs are As a native New Yorker I find Las Vegas to be a boring one trick pony kind of small town Were I you I would fly in , rent a car for a week [get a 4 door sedan w/a V-6 ] spend the night at properties 1,2,3,& 5 http://www.daysinn.com/DaysInn/control/Booking/search_results?areaCodeAR=&areaCode=&advancedSearch=false&entry_source=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.daysinn.com%2FDaysInn%2Fcontrol%2Fhome&brandCode=DI%2CHJ%2CTL%2CRA%2CKG%2CSE%2CBU%2CBH%2CMT&searchWithinMiles=50&resetSession=true&areaType=2&destination=LAS&state=&country=US&checkInDate=09%2F03&checkOutDate=09%2F04&numberRooms=1&numberAdults=1&numberBigChildren=0&numberChildren=0&__tier1=true&__tier2=true&__tier3=true&__tier4=true&useWRPoints=false&rate=000&__rate=SRB Do Las Vegas' one trick and hit the road the next day >come back to LAS 6 days later return the car and fly home Depending upon what kind of an awesome scenery lover you are a 6 day loop trip could look like this Pop this into mapquest or whatever site you're using LAS >GCN >Lees Ferry AZ >Page AZ>Kayenta AZ >Mexican Hat UT>Cortez CO>Telluride CO >La Sal Junction UT>Moab UT >Hanksville UT>Torrey UT>Escalante UT >Mount Carmel Junction UT >LAS I just sent you across Grand Canyon NP , Lake Powell , a big chunk of the Navajo Nation , Monument Valley , Four Corners , Mesa Verde NP , a taste of the Rockies, Arches NP , Canyonlands NP < Capitol Reef NP, Bryce NP Zion NP and the Virgin River Gorge on I-15 Enjoy your journey

About what different type of ways can you travel to Las Vegas from England

What different type of ways can you travel to Las Vegas from England?
I was wondering what different types of methods i could travel to Las Vegas from England. I know i can travel by Plane but can i travel by train? Or boat? If so how? And where? Please help.. anything is apreciated!! x
Las Vegas - 6 Answers
People's Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
Answer 1 :
plane is the most easiest and fastest way of getting there, whilst you could probably get there by boat but would take a good few days, and also then traveling when you get to america to get to Las Vegas... Train is not possible..
Answer 2 :
There are no trains that stop in Vegas and we are in the desert, there is no ocean. Flying is about the only way from the UK.
Answer 3 :
NO train you are crossing an ocean. You can take a ship or plane
Answer 4 :
Anything is possible. If you don't mind spending a lot of time travelling you could: - Sail on the QM2 from Southampton to New York (about 5 days at sea) - Rent a car in New York - Drive to Las Vegas (about 38 hours of driving) Then repeat it all in the reverse direction to get back to England. To save yourself some driving, you can take a train from NY to Chicago (18 hours), then rent a car for the rest of the trip. It would take about 11 hours of flying time to get from London to Las Vegas.
Answer 5 :
Fly to New York, or Los Angeles, then get on Amtrak. The trains will get you as far as Kingman, Arizona, where you will transfer to a bus for the rest of the trip. The closest you could get by boat is Los Angeles.
Answer 6 :
You can fly direct from Gatwick to Las Vegas on Virgin and from Heathrow you can get anynumber of flights that connect to Las Vegas via any number of major cities in the USA, for example, Los Angeles, Dallas, Chicago, San Franscisco, New York, Washington, Denver etc

Las Vegas - 5 Answers

Answer 1 :
Us Airways or Southwest Airlines must have some pretty cheap fares out there. Southwest tends to be cheap and very affordable, with great customer service.
Answer 2 :
Greyhound. http://vacation-in-vegas.com
Answer 3 :
you have a horse?
Answer 4 :
Greyhound is it.
Answer 5 :
I usually drive. I go down the I-10 to the 303, and follow that up to US 60. Head up that way. If you're going during the day, you'd want to head through Laughlin as opposed to going over the dam, otherwise, you'll have to combat lots of trafffic. You could probably get a greyhound bus there, but it might take longer than just driving yourself.

About Las Vegas travel question about the golden nugget

Las Vegas travel question about the golden nugget?
We will be going to Vegas and booked a room in the Rush Tower (newer non smoking tower) at the Golden Nugget. Please give me your input, good or bad.
Las Vegas - 5 Answers
People's Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
Answer 1 :
We stayed here for a couple of nights in January, after staying on the strip for five nights. Would definitely recommend this hotel. Loved loved loved it!! Even the area, way better atmosphere than the strip. The hotel was gorgeous, rooms were spotless and beautifully decorated. Cant fault anything about it, if i'm ever lucky enough to get back to Vegas, we'll definitely be staying here! Have an amazing time!
Answer 2 :
I don't think you'll go wrong there. Easy to take a bus to the strip and just a good downtown area.............What the heck are "bed buds?" I don't think you'd want to take advice from that person. That should be a hint.
Answer 3 :
Golden Nugget is actually a 4 Star hotel with first class service throughout, You will love this hotel and especially the new Rush Tower. Enjoy yourself. http://www.lasvegas-how-to.com/golden-nugget.php
Answer 4 :
Golden Nugget is nice, but located downtown on not on the famous Strip. BTW all rooms are none smoking
Answer 5 :
The Gold Nugget is the only Vegas hotel to receive a 5 star rating every year for 25 years. And they didn't get it by accident. While you are there check out the Gold Coast casino on the corner across from the Plaza. It is the oldest remaining hotel in Vegas and has a lot of historical displays. They were the first hotel to get a telephone. Their phone number was 1. Avoid the Gold Spike at all cost. It is the filthiest, nastiest casino in Vegas. Binions has a deli where you can get a HUGE sandwich for about $6. I bet you can't eat it all. Check out the Fremont Street Experience. Every hour on the hour from 9pm to midnight. Mermaids has hot dogs, deep fried twinkies, deep fried oreo's and chocolate covered bananas for $1 each.

Boy have I got the spot for you. Try this site out for size. http://www.lasvegasadvisor.com > forums Yes, it's a paid member site, but, they offer a free five day trial. The Las Vegas Advisor newsletter has been around for about 25 years and offers the best info on how to get more out of LV than it gets out of you.. If you watch the Travel Channel at all I'm sure you have seen LVA'ers like Anthony Curtis, Jean Scott, Bob Dancer, Jeffrey Compton, Beth Coffey, Michael Shackleford etc. There are over 30,000 LVA members, I doubt there is a question that you can come up with on Las Vegas that you can't get the answer to in the LVA forums... There is also a "free side" to the forums, anyone can use this one. And, anyone can use 99% of the information available on this site, without paying the membership.
